A Japanese plum variety with a pear-drop-like flavour and blood-red flesh. ‘Lizzie’ produces beautiful spring blossoms, occasionally even in late winter, followed by red-purple fruit that is sweet, juicy, and perfect for eating fresh or cooking. The tree is a heavy and reliable cropper, bearing abundant fruit from August onwards. It is self-fertile and has good frost resistance for its early blossoms, but may require extra support for its branches due to the weight of the fruit.

Pollination Information: This is a self-fertile plum and does not require a pollination partner. Please note – as a Japanese plum, this variety is unable to pollinate other domestic UK plums.

Garden care:
When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Stone fruits like the plums should be pruned in the summer because they are prone to a disease called silver leaf which enters through cuts. If you prune in late summer, the sap is slowing but is still running fast enough to seal up any wounds. Check and remove any damaged, diseased or broken branches.
